How to Deal with a Broken Nose & Ways to Fix It

Many of us have had a broken nose at some point in our lives. It can happen during a sports event or because of an accident in the home. If you have suffered a broken nose, you shouldn’t worry about your appearance until the swelling has subsided. The important thing to do is to let it heal and assess the damage once it has returned to ‘normal’.

Diagnosis

If you think you have suffered a broken nose and you wish to have your suspicions confirmed, you must visit a doctor. Most of the time you will not need an x-ray as your doctor should be skilled enough to diagnose the damage on palpation of the area. They will feel around the structure and look inside to see if there is any obstruction. If the nose is broken and misaligned, there is no need to panic as you can have it fixed with beautiful and natural nose surgery (called เสริมจมูกสวยธรรมชาติ in Thai).

If you have severe injuries, a doctor may call for a CT scan of the area. There are times when they cannot touch the patient’s nose due the seriousness of the wound.

Here are some of the most common ways people end up breaking their nose:

  • Walking into a door or wall
  • Sports
  • Falling down
  • Motor vehicle accident
  • Physical assault

If your nose is misshapen because of the injury, your doctor will recommend simple care measures before you can have a rhinoplasty.

Nose Job

A nose job, or rhinoplasty is a medical procedure that is done to repair the structure of the nose. It gives the nose better functionality and improves aesthetics. Surgery is generally done in an outpatient medical facility and there is no need to spend more than a day in the hospital or clinic.

Once your nose has healed and the swelling and bruising has gone away, you can assess the shape of the nose. If you can clearly see a symmetry issue, you can fix the problem with a professional nose surgeon.

A rhinoplasty is a safe medical procedure that can be done by a trained professional. The procedure doesn’t take long, and the patient is out of the hospital that same day. If you have broken your nose and you are worried about the appearance, wait until the swelling and bruising recedes to assess the damage. If it is misaligned, you can consider going for a rhinoplasty to fix the structure.
